We arrived about a half hour early. Got some food and drinks to tide us over before the show. Found our seats. Which I must say were pretty good considering my last minute purchasing. As the show started I was overwhelmed by the action that began to take place on stage. Now I didn’t have any reference to what this was actually about. So the first 10 minutes, I was adjusting to the relationships and circumstances surrounding the story line. Soon the story took shape for me . I felt some sections of the storyline were a bit of a stretch with relationships from the original. Overall it was an inviting musical.

Wicked was an entertaining and fun experience for myself and my wife. The role of Glinda (with a silent “ga”) was played by Lisa Livesay, which played the part PERFECTLY! I can’t imagine seeing Wicked again and picturing anyone else in the role. All future Glinda’s will and should be compared to Livesay’s performance. Anne Brummel played the part of Elphaba. Who has been around since the beginning of the musicals debut. Gave an equally impressive performance, but it seemed a little less energetic from my own personal perspective. That could be in part to  the role? I felt Livesay’s performance was a little more believable for me. It’s as if I forgot this was just a musical and I began to believe what Glinda was saying. Her expressions and overall involvement into the role made the show for me. As for my wife she said that this performance was better than the first she had seen. So congrats to all the cast and crew for a job well done.

Wicked impressed me. For someone whom had never been to many musicals I thought it had fun and quirky humor that played off the original Wizard of Oz. I’d recommend it to friends and family.  Guys, take your wives or girlfriends if they seem interested. It’s worth the price of admission and it gives you brownie points! Overall it’s impressively entertaining, while keeping the storyline void of too many lagging sections. I’d give it a double “U” for “Wickedly Fun”.
